Skywatcher EQ6-R Pro

I also own a German Equatorial Mount, a Skywatcher EQ6-R Pro. For the price, it seemed hard to beat. Belt drive, 44lb load capability, built-in polar scope (which I can’t use at home because I live in the Worst Place in the World for Astrophotography™), not too big, not too small. Not crazy about the golf-shoe white, but, that’s a small complaint.

Pointing south. Right into a stand of 100′ tall fir trees.

I don’t use this mount for visual, so I hardly ever have the hand controller plugged in. The newest version of the mount has a USB port built in, so I control everything from the Raspberry PI. The polar alignment routine in KStars/ECOS works great and I usually get down to below 1 arcminute in a pretty reasonable amount of time.
